Requirement to disclose neighbor in foreclosure?
I just bought a house in northern Virginia and despite getting a good deal, I was given a nice surprise this past Friday at settlement when the sellers told me the next door neighbor’s house was going in to foreclosure. This will make the home I just purchased lose significant value and I wouldn’t have made an offer on this house if I’d known. Apparently my Realtor also knew about the house being in Short Sale. Shouldn’t this information have been disclosed to me? I don’t appreciate this nasty surprise at settlement.
This is personal information about a neighbor, having nothing to do with your house. This would not be disclosed to you, in fact it would be inappropriate to discuss the personal affairs of your new neighbors.
